We did our best to make this documentation as clear as possible. What Is WordPress ?

WordPress is a free and open source blogging tool and a content management system (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL. It enables you to build Websites and powerful on-line applications and requires almost no technical skills or knowledge to manage. Many aspects, including its ease of use and extensibility, have made WordPress the most popular Web site software available.


What is a WordPress Plugin ?

A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. In the WordPress community, there is a saying that goes around: “there’s a plugin for that”. They makes it easy for users to add features to their website without knowing a single line of code.

RAYS Grid Plugin Requirements

RAYS Grid WordPress Plugin requires some basic settings to work properly with no issues, as it includes many features and options to make it easy for you to make your website as you dream with.

So below what is required for RAYS Grid to work:

  • WordPress Version 4.7.3 or Higher
  • PHP 5.6 or higher
  • MySQL 5.6 or higher
  • Recommended PHP Configuration Limits:
    • max_execution_time 180
    • memory_limit 128M
    • post_max_size 32M
    • upload_max_filesize 32M


Plugin Installation

1. Install via Wordpress Uploader

  1. Login to your wordpress dashboard.
  2. Go to Plugins >> Add New.
  3. Click on Upload Button.
  4. Click on Choose File button, and select rays-grid.zip plugin file.
  5. Click Install Now button.

2. Installi via FTP

  1. Go to the downloaded zip plugin file then select rays-grid.zip and extract it.
  2. Copy extracted files in rays-grid folder to /wp-content/plugins via FTP Clients
  3. For example plugin should be in wp-content/plugins/rays-grid

Plugin Overview

Once installed and activated the plugin you will see the following screen in your wordpress admin dashboard:

Now Let's discuss each element in our powerfull plugin options panel individually to make use of all plugin features.

Naming

  1. Title: This is the (Nice) name of your new grid.
  2. Alias: This is the grid alias (slug name).
  3. Shortcode: This is generated automatically once you type the alias you can copy it to your page or post and now you can see the grid on the page.
  4. Extra CSS Class: Enables you to add extra css class for the grid and then you can style this grid individually by adding the custom css in your theme or inside the wordPress Customizer.

Source

  1. Post Types: Select from available post types.
  2. Post Categories: Select from available categories and tags from the corresponding post type.
  3. Maximun Entries: Number of Items to be retrieved from the database (Leave it (-1) if you want to show all items.).
  4. Order By: Select the posts order from the available options.
  5. Order Type: Order posts ascending or descending.
  6. Image Source Type: Choose what image size to be set to the image in the grid items.
  7. Pagination: By default this option is Enable, there is another option (Smart Loading) if you choosed the Smart Loading it includes two options -> Load more button and infinite scrolling.
  8. Max. Visible Rows: Number of visible rows For the Pagination (Enable Only) Option.

Layout

  1. Main Color: Choose the main color for most of grid elements.
  2. Grid Layout: Choose how the grid will appear for users.
  3. Media Ratio X:Y: How to display the grid Image in width * Height.
  4. Columns Per Row: Items per row that will be shown horizontally.
  5. Item Spacing: Controls The Spacing between grid items.
  6. Pre-loader: Select a preloading styles that appears before all grid items completely loaded.
  7. RTL: Show this grid in RTL mode.

Skins & Styles

Choose your prefered skin from the 20 Available one, Just click the skin and an Edit button will appear As follows:

  1. Show Title: Show / Hide the Post Title on this skin.
  2. Show Taxonomies: Show / Hide the Post taxonomies (Categories, Tags) on this skin.
  3. Show Zoom Image: Show / Hide the Zoom Link on this skin.
  4. Show Link to post: Show / Hide the Post Link on this skin.
  5. Show Excerpt: Show / Hide the Post excerpt on this skin.

Nav Filter

  1. Nav-Filter: Select Navigation filter style that appears at the top of the grids.
  2. Show All Button: Show / Hide (All) button.
  3. Show All Button Text: Type the text for the (Show All) button.
  4. Layout Option: Filter Type to be a list or a dropdown menu.
  5. Show Number of Elements: Show / Hide number of posts in the nav filter.
  6. Numbers Style: The numbers style that appears in each nav filter item.


Import / Export Grids

  • Export Grids: Just Click Export Button and a .json file will be downloaded to your PC.
  • Import Grids: To import a .json file from your PC choose the file first then click import button.
